Of Movies, Kawaii and Good Mail Days

As much as I aspire to, I'm not really in the mood to write these days. I'm enjoying crocheting more granny squares (I want to finish the blanket!) while we're watching movies in the evenings. My days are nothing out of the ordinary - I just do my usual stuff.

The movies we watched since last weekend:

- Batman Begins
- Knocked Up
- August Rush
- Bourne Ultimatum
- Legends of the Fall

I also discovered these miniature food cuteness in an model kit store downtown. I've seen Re-Ment stuff on some websites I visit and on flickr, and wished I had them, too. I don't really know where to get them online so I thought I'll save it for when we go to Japan or US. When I saw them lying on the bottom glass shelf among the boxed vinyl Tokidoki toys, I just knew I couldn't leave the store without them.

Now, I'm on the hunt for the furniture pieces! The collection begins!

These postcards came in my mailbox recently, except for the Normal Rockwell painting on the top left which was the first postcard I got via Postcrossing. They are my favorite among the 16 cards I received so far. The cutest one, though, got here today all the way from China. I guess you know which one I'm talking about. I can't get enough of kawaii things. They make me all mushy and childlike. I love it!

These, too, was a colorful surprise which came all the way from Japan. Thank you, Caryn, for these origami paper goodies! I will definitely use them in my future origami projects.

Happy!

Yesterday, we went around downtown since the weather wasn't good enough for us to go somewhere else like Amsterdam or Antwerp. I hope the weather improves in the coming weeks. It's still dull with rain and hovering gray clouds accompanied by a chilly breeze in summer!

But, I got to buy the Hello Kitty Pear, which now completes my HK fruity cuteness family, and some candy. That made me really happy!

Also bought a new dress, dvds and some things I'm using for craft projects. I have many things to show you!!

Right now, we're going to celebrate a friend's birthday.

Etsy Find

Artist's name: Emily Martin
Shop: The Black Apple
Blog: Inside a Black Apple

I have a lot of favorites but these two are the toppers.

The Red Piano

I love everything in this painting. The red. The piano. The bird. The teacup and saucer. The girl. The girl's outfit. The girl's hair. The colors. I love it!

Scarf for Two

This painting looks like me and my brother, Ian. He's my closest sibling and my favorite. He's my biggest influence in art, books, music even fashion. I just had to have this one. I still owe him a knitted scarf and I'm thinking of making it black and white like that on the print.

These are my first etsy purchases and I'm so happy! Can't wait to get them in the mail. I love her work and her sense of style. How can some people dress so effortlessly cool? I want that magic, too!

100% Fruity

There is no telling when this fruity addiction started. But one thing I know is I can't get enough of them!

So when I saw this yummy-looking Oilily bag, I knew I just had to have it. I eyed it a couple of times for a few months until yesterday, I could no longer resist and allowed myself to be taken away because it was the last one left and it was on sale. Imagine having an ultimatum like that. How could I say no? I don't even care if it was meant for girls half my age but there's no way I could leave the store without it. I feel teen-y - sometimes, I even look it - and that's what counts! lol

I will always be young at heart anyway, no matter the wrinkles and gray hairs that will be appearing in the years to come.

Oh, I love love love my new bag!

When I got home, I checked out the Oilily website to see what other fruity cuteness they have and found this pen case!

I. MUST. HAVE. IT!

Market Day

We spent half of the day walking around downtown enjoying the sunshiny May weather. Oh, what a lovely weather we have! I could only hope for it to stay like this until fall. There is something joyful and beautiful about the warmth of the sun on your face, about the easy comfort of walking in flats and sandals, about not wearing heavy jackets and wool clothings, about seeing the happy faces of everyone enjoying the same things we are. It is a good day and I'm celebrating!

So to celebrate this wonderful day we went to the market despite the knowledge that it will be packed with people of all ages. From babies in prams to old people with walking canes, the market is an interesting scene. I haven't bought anything there besides fruits and flowers for a while, but today is such a good day that I was in the mood to update my fabric stash. It's been so long since I actually checked out fabrics there and the sellers constantly change so I had no idea where to go. We just walked through four very crowded aisles to see if someone's selling them and, alas, we stumbled upon two stalls. Both sell almost exactly the same fabrics but the latter have more nice stuff plus they're way cheaper. If I didn't stop myself, I could have easily dished out a hundred, but I didn't want to spend so much so I settled with what I have. For now. I bought a couple from the first one we went to and felt so ripped off when we discovered the second one. I couldn't stop thinking about it. Yet, I'm happy with my purchases. Now I know where to get them next time since the lady said they are there every market day.

Then we found the ribbon and button stall. I was (always am) on the hunt for pretty buttons and I found some. Oh, what joy! I couldn't get over it yet because they're just sooo cute! I'm going back there next week to get some more because I realized that these are not enough. I don't think one can get enough of it!

I'm looking forward to making stuff with my new finds. Sewing machine, here I come!!

Christmas came early

We just got home from a yummilicious sushi dinner downtown, and afterwards, we did a little bit of book shopping. I'm kind of sushied-out. For now anyway. I could go for more sushi tomorrow if Mike is up for it which I highly doubt because he can't eat the same thing two days in a row. Unless, of course, it's ice cream or any sugar-rich foods.

So we got to the bookstore and I headed directly towards the magazine section. I spent quite some time there, scanning through home and hobby magazines, the usual good stuff. I bought a couple of christmas magazines which I've been waiting for for weeks but Country Living still isn't out. That bummed me out for a while but then I decided to check out the sale section on the top floor and I can't believe my luck for finding a brand new Caroline Zoob's book, Speelgoed & Cadeautjes, (Childhood Treasures) for a much cheaper price than what it is being sold for second-hand. Then I also saw the Sfeer Maken (Sew Pretty Homestyle) by Tone Finnanger which I couldn't get the heart to return to the shelf so Mike bought it for me as an advance sinterklaas cadeau. Hee-hee! They both have very nice inspiring photographs and patterns for cute projects for the little one and for the house.

Looks like I'll be pulling an all-nighter again tonight.

Hello Kitty

Look at what I got today! A Hello Kitty Carry Along Mini Dollhouse.

I have had my doubts about Hello Kitty for years but I don't know how and when I started liking it. When I see something Hello Kitty, my heart jumps and I feel the urge to scream 'hello kittttttttttyyyyyy'.

When I saw it on the advert folders earlier this week, I hesitated. I didn't really like it as much as I did the figurines because I don't know where to put it. But it all changed when I saw it in the store this afternoon. I felt giddy. Without thinking twice, I grabbed the box and went straight to the cashier before I could change my mind.
