Chocolate and Music

17 March 2008 Today is a strange day. I woke up at half past noon. Slept for 10 hours straight. No waking up in between. No looking at the time. No remembered dream. Woken up by a phone call from Mike during his lunch break. He's my human alarm clock. Today is the only time I was very happy he disturbed my sleep because it's the first time in a month that I slept this long. I've been doing good waking up between 8-9 on my own, and falling asleep not later than 1, except last Thursday when I just had to finish the book I was reading at 6 am. This is just my body deciding to catch up on sleep that I lacked in the weekend.

I went downstairs feeling guilty of having missed my whole morning vegging out in bed. After checking emails and a couple of websites, I made myself brunch with the leftover chicken curry we had for dinner the other day and a piece of chocolate cake that Opa's wife gave us to take home from his birthday party yesterday. If you know me, I normally don't eat dessert right after my meals. I wait for an hour or two before I surrender myself to the additional treat of sweets. Sleep must still haven't left my system because I wasn't completely conscious about the whole cake thing until I put the plate on the table and sat down on the couch. Then I thought, as almost per habit, that I needed to take a picture. That's when it hit me that I have a cake staring out at me, waiting tacitly to be consumed. I vaguely have the memory of taking it out of the fridge and putting it on the plate. This must be how it feels like to sleep-eat.

And then, I felt like shopping. For music to be exact. So to iTunes store I went. Three Four and a half albums later, I was fully awake.

Best bet with choco cake is to just eat it, don't think too much about it ;)

Yes, chick music! You might like Sarah Bareilles too based on your choices...not sure if she's made it to Holland yet.
True, true. :)

Thanks for the reco! Will check her out.

oversleeping? that bug has hit me too. :-)

the chocolate cake looks very tempting. i love to eat left-over cake, especially the last slice! whew.
I don't like to oversleep. It makes me lazy and groggy and unproductive.

Anything leftover is yummier. Or is it the idea that it's the last piece that makes it tastier?

Sounds like a positively relaxing day! I agree with Jess' reco -- Sarah Bareilles is wonderful! I love her song called Fairy Tale. Check the lyrics out, they're really funny and wonderful.
Relaxing day indeed! But most of my days are relaxed so it wasn't anything special. Heeh.

Will check that song. Thanks Toni!
