Today's brunch was poffertjes, mini pancakes, topped with sliced fresh strawberries, powdered sugar and butter. Yum!
Mike is still sick. :( Earlier this afternoon he almost fainted in the bathroom. His tummy was upset that made him want to relieve himself and hurl at the same time. He did neither. He went back to the couch and asked me if it came to him doing both at the same time, what would I rather clean up on the floor: poop or vomit? I said neither. He can sit on the toilet and throw up in a basin. Then he asked me again, what if there's no basin? I said, there will always be a basin. I got it ready just in case. He laughed afterwards.
I've been feeling like wanting to do something but wasn't really sure what. I attempted to sew but that didn't work out. I just stared at my sewing machine and the fabrics I took out to make throw pillowcases with. There was no inspiration. Distracted, that's how my day was. In fact, my weekend was the same. I didn't get much done. Seeing Mike lying sick on the couch is simply disheartening.

But I had to do something or I'd go crazy. I remembered that I have a basket full of old fashion and food magazines that needed sorting. They were only gathering dust in the corner of the study. So what I did was peruse through them one by one, ripping pages with inspiring photos, designs and recipes while chucking the rest into the trash bag. When I was done with them, I thought about doing the same with my home magazines, but I don't have the heart to throw them away. I can't get myself to even try to cut a photo, let alone rip a whole page. They're staying where they are.
There's nothing better than your mom making chicken soup when you're too sick to eat anything else. Mike called up his mom asking her to make him exactly that. She said that we could make it ourselves but he insisted it's not the same. And I agree, it really isn't the same. There's something about a mother's cooking that you crave for when you're sick. It's almost like a cure. The parents-in-law came by later this afternoon with the hot chicken soup with buns and cheese to go with it and some meatballs which Mike loves (I hope he'll eat them tomorrow).
Thank God for wonderful parents! And thank you for the well wishes!

poor mike, that sounds very awful indeed. kj got that the last day we were in davao, when i made him eat some oyster at the japanese tunnel restaurant. and worse, he did everything you feared, and i can do nothing about it so i cried by the door of the loo while he was doing "things" pleading him that we just go straight to the hospital. the stubborn dutchman don't want to go, so i ended up rubbing efficascent oil on his tummy and soothing him to sleep, but it sure scared daylights out of me, because i could have poisoned my husband with that oyster! oyster is forever banned in our lives. whew. by the way, i love poffertjes met suiker. did you make that yourself?! tell the hubby, van harte beterschap toegewenst! ![]() Awww that sounds terrible. KJ's experience was kind of like Mama's when we went to Boracay and ate oysters. That was very crappy. :/Mike is finally well. Thanks!

OMG Those look so good!! Did you make them? HOW? lol I'm sorry Mike is still sick - send him our best wishes. :) ![]() Haha, I bought them ready made. But you can make them using a special pan for them. I think you use the same pancake ingredients, just in mini form. :)Thank you!

Hopefully that last episode was the worst of it for Mike. There's just something medicinal in a mother's chicken soup...hook it up to an IV and call it a day hehe ![]() Thanks! He had a second episode 2 days after at 1 am but that was it.

That plate is so cute!! I love the pink, I may have to get stuff just like that when I get my own place. the food looks fantastic too. Hope Mike starts to feel better soon. A mums chicken soup = yummy! ![]() I love the plate! I use them sparingly, only when I feel like the food I make are photo worthy. Hehe. Just a shame that I only bought one though. They aren't making it anymore. :/

That comfort food looks wonderfulllll. And good thing you're there for him. :) Even if he craves for his Mom's cooking, your TLC will keep him going too! ![]()
