Getting started.

16 April 2008 This afternoon, Ma came by to get me out of the house and bike to the centrum. I don't know when the last time was, besides today, that I sat on that saddle. We took the route through the Maas tunnel and when we got there, I almost fainted. Not after seeing the height of the escalator (mind you, it was hiiigh), but because I have a condition of a marshmallow. My already-blurry-vision got worse. So I sat. I laid my head down on Ma's lap while she talked me through the whole thing to keep me awake. It helped. We stayed like that for about fifteen minutes until I was okay enough to bike again. I decided I don't like biking that much. I prefer to walk. But it was a nice experience. The bike was a just tad too high for me so I'm experiencing some knees-and-upper-thigh soreness. Boy, are they gonna be really sore tomorrow!

Ma and I are going to do this once a week. My idea, by the way. So good luck to me!

I got home with the urge to make earrings. So I did. Only, I ran out of wire to finish the pair.

that's a pretty earring!
when i was in amsterdam, kj dragged me to bike for hours, in his cycle which is too high for me my toes don't even touch the ground. my heart jumps out of my throat at all the stoplights because i had to scream for him to stop me before i roll on the ground or hit straight to oncoming traffic. it was just pure agony. but we did it week after week and everytime i'd swear i'm not going cycling again. ;-)
Hahaha, I always have to get off the bike and stand when I stop. My knees still hurt! This is one of the Dutch things that I might not take into. I'd really rather walk. I love walking.

I had a kid's bike when I was in Holland. I had to bike every day and I couldn't stand not being able to just set my feet on the ground at the stoplights. With an adult bike I always felt the need for a step stool or pole vault to get back on hehe.
They joke about getting me a kid's bike too just so I can set my feet on the ground whenever we stop. It's really annoying to keep getting off it and I think it makes biking a lot nicer.

Where did you guys live?

Thanks Claire!

nice shot! i love how the color of the earring matches the orchids. i love making stuff too; i haven\'t made any earrings in ages, but will do again soon.
Thank you! I made the stuff on the dining table and when I was looking for a place to hang it on to take a picture, I saw the orchids. I've seen your necklaces, they look really good! I just don't have the patience for seed beads. Can't wait to see your earrings!
